KUFL Stall at 2025 Kenilworth Christmas Market

Members of the KUFL committee assisted by students from Kenilworth School USU committee had another most enjoyable day on Saturday 6th December, meeting people who visited our stall, at the Kenilworth Town Councils Christmas Fair, at Abbey End, in Kenilworth.

Posters, photographs and a video loop, provided the focus from which to explain the history of KUFL and the various schemes, both completed and ongoing.

Map showing the countries of Africa…..to be labelled

To attract people to the stall, or Vice-Chair Jane and husband Roger had made a big map of Africa, with each country coloured in, plus a set of cards with the names of all the countries in Africa, to put on the map where people thought they should go. There was much interest in this and we were impressed by several people who labelled the majority of countries correctly.

Jane and Roger had updated the models of buildings with the Uyogo village to incorporate working guttering to feed a rainwater harvesting tank. The day was quite mild with only a few very minor rain showers, so the water to be harvested was supplied from a jug.

All attending the event were entertained by a brass group playing and a community choir singing seasonal music.

Besides raising awareness of KUFL, which provides a mutually beneficial link between Kenilworth and Uyogo, we received several donations and spoke to a number of people who showed a particular interest in Uyogo and the activities of KUFL.
